Have you been struck by the entrepreneurial bug?
Over the past 20 years, I’ve worked with thousands and thousands of franchise candidates. Most of them were very nice people, ready to listen and open to learning about franchising in general and my Brand, in particular. Some of them were eminently qualified; had considered what they wanted in lifestyle and income, were educated on small business and even on franchising. Many of them were still at the ‘dreamer’ stage, perhaps having had a tough day at work and declaring: “I want control of my life; I’m never working for someone else again!”
Of course, they might get home and tell this to their family, with one of a few general reactions:
- Wow, that sounds great!
- How much will it cost?
- Are you sure you want to take the chance?
- Like Hell, you are!
Most aspiring business owners start with big dreams, so do some serious introspection to understand why you want to own a business; what financial, lifestyle and workstyle goals you have; and even consider what exit strategy you might want, and when. Then, do the research to make sure that the franchise opportunity you select can help you attain your goals and make those dreams come true!
